Job Description

The Cyber Security Analyst will join a Cyber Defence team responsible for understanding, detecting and responding to cyber threats and vulnerabilities across a complex digital environment.

The role will involve triaging and investigating cyber security alerts, analysing systems, files, network traffic and cloud environments to understand potential incidents, and supporting technical incident response through containment, eradication and recovery activities.

You will contribute to incident coordination and post incident reviews, identify opportunities to improve investigation and response capabilities, and work closely with other cyber defence functions. You will also contribute to internal plans, playbooks and knowledge resources.

The role includes providing coaching and mentoring to apprentice security analysts, acting as an escalation point and taking responsibility for line management. As cyber incidents can arise at any time, you will also participate in an out of hours on call rota.

Essential Selection Criteria

Experience investigating and responding to cyber security incidents is essential, alongside practical experience using security tools such as EDR and SIEM to support incident investigation and response.

Candidates should have experience using SIEM tools, with Splunk preferred, although experience with Microsoft Sentinel or an equivalent platform is acceptable. A good understanding of the tools, techniques and procedures commonly used by threat actors is also required.

Strong analytical and problem solving skills are essential, together with good written and verbal communication skills.

Active SC Security Clearance is required for this role.
Experience using Splunk, working within an Agile environment and working with cloud environments such as AWS would be advantageous.
